Interesting story behind Absolace. They are a multi-national band with their root homebase in Dubai. Vocalist Nadim Jamal is from Beirut and damn if he isn't a great singer. The band worked with Jens Bogren on mixing and its a fine sounding release. Absolace are a progressive band that skirt the fine line between metal and progressive rock. Tool would be a reference point - good solid crunchy guitar work at play but also nice atmospherics. Without anyone specific in mind Jamal's stylings have a bit of Seattle grunge vibe and it works perfectly with the riffing guitars. Some of the material has undercurrents of Middle Eastern music. Absolace has come up with a nice dynamic listening experience. Highly recommended.
