Legit reissue of a rare British hard rock band. Originally planned for release on the Vertigo label, this was at the last minute changed to Mercury Records.

The band was originally called Strawberry Dust but at the last minute the label changed their name. They fell under the tutelage of future Gentle Giant drummer John Weathers who at the time was playing in Eyes Of Blue. John used the band as an outlet to have some of his material recorded that didn't fit with Eyes Of Blue. John wrote four of the tracks, produced the album and even played drums on one of the tunes. John's cohort in Eyes Of Blue, Phil Ryan, plays keys on one track. Ryan went on to play with Man. The music of Ancient Grease is typical of the day. Blues driven hard rock with some snarling guitar leads and ripping organ breaks. A bit of a Deep Purple vibe is present. Ultimately the band went on to have success once they changed their name to Racing Cars. Comes with one bonus track.
