Ready to get your Symphony X jones on? Anthriel are a new band from Finland that play traditional progressive power metal with plenty of neoclassical flash. The debut album is based on the first part of R.A. Salvatore's The Dark Elf Trilogy. There are lots and lots of great musicians out there so the make or break for a band like this is the vocalist. Luckily Simo Silvan brings the goods. I'm reminded a bit of Gary Belian of Stride in the way he delivers his vocal lines. The Pathway features nice ornate keyboards through out and that big epic sound that this style of music warrants. I expect we will be hearing a lot from Anthriel as the story line progresses. Highly recommended to the neoclassically minded.

Man this album is beautiful. This is the disc I've been waiting for Symphony X to release for the past 8 years! Once again proving why Finland is the greatest metal country on earth. Fantastic release!

3 and half would be more like it. Good. We see the influence here. Symphony X, Y Malmsteen, intch of Evergrey, ect. I Love the keyboards here (use with taste). The production is top notch. Very good singer (not a clone of R Allen !). Between power and progressive metal. Good chorus (but not to memorable). A really solid effort. Worth a shoot. The packaging is also very good.

Brilliant...straight into my top 5 2010 releases (so far). Great musicianship and great compositions from beginning to end. Nice & a welcome use use of piano (not always synth etc)and what a great vocalist! Lots of reviews, including here make reference to Symphony X..agreed, but what about some reference to Cloudscape?..This is equally as good as Global Drama. Great stuff S UK

A total masterpiece from beginning to end. The musicianship, writing, and production are flawless. Yes...it sounds alot like Symphony X...but.... GOOD, I AM GLAD. There are not enough bands that play that sort of metal. Besides, Symphony X take so damn long to put out material that I am happy to see new bands put out the same quality of music. There's some Kansas influence, as well, and it's simply beautiful stuff.
