Eons ago I found myself in London on vacation. Scouring a fresh copy of Time Out, looking for some gigs while in town. I noticed that a neoprog band called Ark was playing in a pub in the suburbs. It was a pain in the ass to get to that gig (and getting back to the hotel late at night was a nightmare since the trains stop running). I was only familiar with the band's one album The Dreams Of Mr. Jones. I didn't have a bloody clue who John Jowitt was. The band put on a spirited performance to a rather small crowd. I particularly remember that they didn't have any keyboards - instead relying on a guitar synthesizer. It was odd but kind of cool.
Mr. Jowitt has decided to reform the band. They have polished up some of the old material and written some new songs as well. Not much has changed - they are still using guitar synth instead of keys. This is hard charging prog - quite direct (almost punk-like). If you like your prog rock with a touch of heaviness check 'em out cuz it took them a long time to get around to making this album.
