Asia - Phoenix

Feels like 1983 all over again! New reunion album from the original members of Asia. After bouts with rehab and a couple of cardiologists the band is back sounding remarkably like they did 25 years ago.

I certainly wanted to like this cd because I enjoyed the original lineup the best, but what is up with Wettons vocals? He doesn't sound anything like he did, the upper register is gone ala Greg Lake on "Black Moon". He is in key and sings well but it sounds like a different guy altogether.

A GREAT CD! Not a bad song in the batch. The classic Asia sound with the only band members who can pull off a performance as great as this. If you love anything from the classic line up, this CD is for you!

I dont know what all the fuss is about, Why people are going GaGa over, this is the same old Asia cd, sounds just like all their previous cds, Its not a bad cd, but its fair. still to mellow for me, started out strong and then fizzeled out along the way 3 stand out tracks..may be 4, not a """Buy or Die"" one......

My favorite band of all time returns with the original lineup of Downes, Howe, Palmer and Wetton! Never thought it would be this amazing! This album already has some of my top Asia songs of all time after only a few spins! The writing is thought provoking and emotional, the production is rich and nicely orchestrated and the music is flat out awestriking! My favorite Asia album ever? Unbelievable that I would even ponder that thought for even a moment....but maybe so! I waited 25 years for "Phoenix" and I would have waited 100 years for an album like this! 5 Pyramids, 2 Ziggurats and a game of Conect Four for good measure right on top!! Yes! Music lives and so does ASIA!

thank god this cd isnt like Silent Nation which was IMO a big waste of money, Phoenix however is a vast improvement, band seems to get back to there original sound and thats what drew me to these guys over 20 yrs ago.. good job. B.R.
