It's been some time since Autumn released Summer's End. Apparently the band band through an upheaval with a number of members splitting. With new members comes a slight change in sound but they are none the worse for it. Still fronting the band is the drop dead gorgeous Nienke de Jong who has a voice to match. She has this wonderful soulful midrange voice that just grabs you from the opening note. In the same way that Within Temptation had a change in direction with The Silent Force, Autum makes a shift with My New Time. The music is less mystical and doom laden. Instead there is a modern feel but still lots of great melodies, hooks and crunch. The question is - has Autumn found a sound that will strike a balance between their old and new fans. After periodic listens I'd have to say yes. This one isn't leaving the player any time soon. Highest recommendation.

Damn if this album does not kick serious butt. Simply stunning female-led rock album that has nothing to do with the overdone Goth chick thing (although I dig a lot of that stuff too). Great songs, original and strong melodies, intriguing lyrics and solid execution all around. An easy recommendation. Can't wait to hear what they do next. Leyth
