Hadn't spun this one in years so it was a nice trip in the Wayback Machine to give it another go. It's aged quite well - in fact it's better than I remembered. Bachdenkel was a trio of Colin Swinburne, Peter Kimberley and Brian Smith. They were one of those also ran UK bands that never quite made it but developed a bit of cult following later on. Recorded in 1970 but not released until three years later, Lemmings showcases a different flavor of progressive rock than what was in vogue. The music is dark and introspective but dynamic as well - moody organ led passages erupt with killer guitar leads. The vocal harmonies of Swinburne and Kimberly have a definite Beatles feel but I would be hard pressed to call this pop. This reissue arrives as a clear labor of love. There are three bonus tracks and lots of unseen photos and a detailed history of the band. A hidden gem reborn...highly recommended.
