Never heard of this band before but they apparently have released four previous to Niya. This is the first one featuring the vocals of the quite gorgeous Karolina Andrzejewska. Poland seems to specialize in these female fronted gothic bands. Many of them - Artrosis, Moonlight and Delight as examples - have moved away from the traditional gothic sounds adding more electronica elements. That doesn't seem to be the case with Batalion D'Amour. The music reminds me a bit of Within Temptation...well OK it's not as good but I think WT are at the pinnacle. If you are a fan of the older Artrosis and Delight discs you'll definitely dig this one. The only major drawback is that most of the vocals are sung in Polish. Only three songs feature English vocals.
