This is one of those crazy albums that just falls in your lap and you don't understand why it exists or how it exists...but its incredible none the less. Jimmy Chamberlin is the drummer from Smashing Pumpkins. Apparently there is a bad ass fusion drummer locked up inside of him. He put together this mostly instrumental jazz rock album with a bunch of kats I've never heard of but everyone plays like mad. I hear a lot of similarities to great-period Bruford and when it dials itself down it takes on a bit of a kosmigroov vibe. Believe it or not Billy Corgan sings on one track and its actually pretty good - more of an art rock vibe (nothing "alternative"). So the odd vocal track is surprisingly good and the instrumentals are all great. Oh yeah - its an enhanced CD that has some nice video footage of the band in the studio. This one will leave you scratching your head in bewilderment but you'll have an ear to ear grin at the same time. At 8 bucks you think these are going to stick around? Buy 'em in bulk and give 'em as gifts. Its that good. Highly recommended.
