New Danish band that will quickly become a star on the progressive metal scene. "Ripples In Time" is a sonic feast of hooks, riffs and intricacies. The album is filled with lots of instrumental interplay that reminds me of a Petrucci/Rudess powerjam. Although i can't quite pinpoint anyone in particular, vocalist Rasmus Bak is in the mold of greats like Jorn Lande and Ian Parry. Chromeshift somehow manages to blend the complexity of bands like Dream Theater and Pain Of Salvation with the majesty and grandeur of Ayreon while maintaining a melodic sensibility - it never gets overdone. This is a disc that will take up residence in your CD player for a long time to come. A killer disc!
