Echoes Of Eternity - The Forgotten Godess

SKU NB1795-2
Fantastic new progressive power metal band fronted by the gorgeous Francine Boucher - with a voice that matches her looks. Drool factor aside this Los Angeles band comes at the female fronted metal genre with a refreshing approach. This balances both power and progressive metal in equal doses. Boucher's vocals do have a dreamy quality to them that float over the heavy crunch and frenetic riffing so it would be tough to fit this into the expected gothic category. This one actually approaches tech-metal in spots. Some serious shredding going on here. A killer debut. Highly recommended.

This is fairly generic, mildly technical metal with some franky weak female vocals over the top. The girl has the same whispery, fragile tone as Liv Kristine, and that's not necessarily a good thing in my books. The songs are samey and one-paced and offer very little in terms of innovation. There's nothing particularly wrong with it, but that's it's problem. It's bland to the extreme. If you want to listen to some technical and genuinely progressive metal with a girl singer, then Florida's Aghora or To-Mera from the UK are the best around at the moment and both come highly recommended.

Yup, this stuff is fan f%#*ingtastic. Echoes Of Eternity manage to fly the fine line between tech. and progressive metal plus they do it in a very song oriented way. Most of the songs are around 4 to 5 minutes so there is not a lot of wanking about. Believe me, they pack a lot into those minutes. Echo's are so tight that you would think they were Norwegian or Swedish but, they hail from California. To me there are only a hand full of bands that play this particular style of metal with a female lead (To-Mera, Echosilence and Aghora's 2nd release are good comparisons). From what I hear the drummer & guitarist played together in a tech/death band before starting Echoes Of Silence and Francine (voc.) has always been into metal in all it's forms. Again, and, I can't stress this enough...These guy's/girl write catchy, smart, to the point songs that Burrrrrrrrrn from top to bottom.

This album sounds totally different than Nightwish or other" goth" bands. They have a very original sound with crunchy riffs and neo-classical style solos. There is also thrashy drumming and vocals. The best way to describe is kind of Madonna meets "Master Of Puppets" if you can imagine that!! Very cool and original sound. Not overly technical but not stupid simple either. Excellent songs and production. Well done!!

Agreed with Ken. Yes, there are a ton of bands like this out there now, but these guys are REALLY good. Francine has wonderful pitch, intonation, timbre and control, and the music is dynamic, so it doesn't sound like the same thing over and over. DavidK

OK,NOW THE GLOVES COME OFF! WHAT REALLY URKS ME IS WHEN YOU READ A NEW CD REVIEW AND YOU THINK TO YOURSELF '' DID THESE REVIEWERS EVEN BOTHER TO LISTEN TO THE CD THAT THEY ARE WRITING ABOUT? ''.AND SO IT GOES WITH THE DEBUT CD FROM L.A.'S ECHOES OF ETERNITY. NO,I DO NOT AGREE WITH KEN GOLDEN NOR WITH (AHEM) DAVID K'S RIDICULOUS COMMENTS THAT ''THERE ARE A TON OF BANDS LIKE THIS OUT THERE'' SANS AGHORA,HOW MANY BANDS DO YOU KNOW THAT COMBINE TECHNICAL METAL (ALA CHUCK SCHULDINER'S CLASSIC BAND DEATH..RIP..) WITH GOTHIC VOCALS?FREAKIN' NONE, THAT'S HOW MANY!! WHY NOT REPORT IT AS YOU HEAR IT? DON'T DECEIVE THE GENERAL PUBLIC INTO OVERLOOKING A REALLY ORIGINAL BAND WHO COMBINE DIFFERENT GENRES OF MUSIC! IN THE PROGRESSIVE SCENE WE NEED MORE BANDS LIKE THIS! HOW MANY DREAM THEATER CLONES OR NIGHTWISH WANNABEES ARE OUT THERE? YOU GUESSED IT... "TONS OF THEM''..... NOW THAT I GOT THAT OFF MY CHEST,ON TO THE MUSIC! WOW! WHAT A REFRESHING CHANGE! TECHNICAL METAL BORDERING ON ALMOST THRASH METAL MELDED WITH GOTHIC VOCALS! BRILLIANT IDEA AND DELIVERY.IT TAKES A WHILE TO REALLY GET INTO THE CONTRASTING STYLES,BUT ONCE YOU DO THIS MAKES FOR AN INTERESTING AND THOUROUGHLY ENJOYABLE SONIC LISTENING EXPERIENCE! RAZOR-SHARP GUITAR RIFFS,EYEBROW RAISING SOLOS,CLEAN,CLEAR PRODUCTION AND THE VOCALS OF FRANCINE CARRY THE LISTENER TO MUSICAL LANDSCAPES NOT TOO OFTEN VISITED! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED...FOR FANS OF PROG/THRASH/GOTHIC AND HEAVY METAL. THIS IS AN ACCURATE REVIEW...UNLIKE OTHERS... REVIEW BY FRANK C.
