New instrumental fusion band from Germany. Electric Outlet consists of four basically unknown session musicians (I have to be honest) who are entrenched in the German music scene. The most notable seems to be guitarist Marcus Deml. Whether or not these guys are well known is really meaningless. The question is can they play? The answer is an unqualified YES! This guitar/keys/bass/drums quartet smokes. The music has a real 70s fusion vibe - along the lines of classic Beck/Hammer. Bassist Frank Itt and drummer Ralf Gustke groove non-stop with just a touch of funk thrown in. Deml and keyboardist Tom Aeschbacher solo over it all with reckless abandon - trading off one another. I had as much fun listening to this as I'm sure they had recording it. Highly recommended.
