Long awaited new studio album from Sweden's finest progressive power metal band. While the band till retains a bit of the slick production that marred Monday Morning Apocalypse it does find the band returning to the heavier, more progressive approach of their earlier work.

Hurried, sloppy, noisy, not many memorable moments. I don't want to pay full price for an album like this. It's got all the hallmarks of low-effort: the songs run together, little distinctiveness, and it all sounds like one big, repetitive din. Like many bands, they sound like they are just getting tired - gotten worse with every release the last few years.

Huge improvement for me over Monday Morning Apocalypse, which simply doesn't find rotation in my player. Still think "In Search of Truth" is their finest achievement but I'm happy to hear them return some towards what got them here in the first place.

Finally a return to form! I know 'The Inner Circle' was probably their pinnacle and I can accept that. But this album finally returns to what Evergrey is all about. I respect what they did as a band for 'MMA', to mix it up and experiment with producers and production, but it wasn't REAL Evergrey. 'Torn' is a good mix of 'The Inner Circle' and 'Recreation Day'. Lots of fantastic vocal feeling by Tom and the super-use of down-tuned guitars(HEAVY!!!). Good to see more keyboards back into the fold, and the production is clean. I wish the pyramids rated in halves; this one gets 4 1/2...Tommi H.

A vast improvement over their last album, "Monday Morning Apocalypse." Gone are the commercial overtomes and the ultra slick production. While this is a really positive step, the songs here don't quite rise to the level of "The Inner Circle." Still, I enjoyed it. Leyth
