Eyefear - The Unseen

Funny thing - in thinking of how to phrase this write-up I took a quick peek at what I wrote for A World Full Of Grey. I could have just copied and pasted the description. The band is led by vocalist Danny Cecati who has more than a little bit of Geoff Tate in him. He has a tremendous range and puts a lot of emotion into his singing giving some extra wallop. The music is a mix of Queensryche and Fates Warning but the heaviness quotient is tipped up a bit sending this one to the "to check out" list for power metal fans as well.

I know I will get crucified for saying this but, to these ears, these guys' debut, 9 Elements Of Inner Vision, was far and away their best album. Their 2nd was pretty good too and this one is not half bad but I do sense that they are regressing musically. For one, the songs seem to be missing a few of the more progressive aspects of the songs on the first two. Maybe I'll enjoy it more after a few more listens. My two cents for now. Leyth
