Here's one that will sit on top of the pile o' discs for awhile. Fatal Fusion is a new progressive rock quintet from Norway. Yet another excellent band from a country that just seems to always have the prog mojo workin'. This time its workin' overtime!
Land Of The Sun features a mixture of symphonic prog and classic rock with some other influences like blues and latin rock creeping in. Swirling organ, luscious mellotron and phat analog synth are ever present. My main criticism of the band is that vocalist Knut Grontvedt doesn't appear to be the right man for the job. He can definitely sing but he has a bluesy vibe that at times I find incongruous with the music. Sometimes it works fine and sometimes not as well. I'm just nitpicking here since overall I find this to be a striking success. The album closes out with two epic tracks including the 15 minute instrumental closer "Out To The Fields" - a stone cold killer that strongly brings up memories of a Grobschnitt cosmic space jam. Highly recommended.

This has to be one of the best debut albums in the prog genre for years !!!...Love the long epics in the end of the album ! Looks like Fatal Fusion really puts their hearts into this production. There are some great guitar and awsome key solos on it , really old school prog "a like".. Recommended !!!!

This is a superb progressive rock in the 70-s spirit. Excellent debut CD. Overal, the quality of songwriting and performance is very good.
