Acte V is the fifth installment from French drummer/composer Patrick Forgas. The Forgas Band Phenomena feature a seven piece lineup including Sebastien Trognon (saxes and flute), Dimitri Alexaline (trumpet and flugelhorn), Benjamin Violet (guitar), Karolina Mlodecka (violin), Igor Brover (keyboards), Kengo Mochizuki (bass). The ensemble is able to overcome its relatively large size and remain tight - whipping through high energy passages as well as laying back through some languid moments. Super tight stuff here and chops from hell. There is a maturity to the compositions that demonstrate super human ability only when needed for the sake of the tune. The new album is accompanied by a bonus DVD featuring the band's incendiary performance at Nearfest in June 2010. This was one smoking set as violinist Karolina Mlodecka tore it up. Highly recommended.
