From.uz = "From Uzbekistan". The band formerly known as The Fromuz has undergone a change of name and lineup and come out stronger in the end. Their latest album, Seventh Story, is a heavy progressive rock affair that touches on fusion as well as classical. The expanded ensemble is led by guitarist Vitaly Popeloff. There seems to be different modes - from full on symphonic rock to blistering Crimson/Univers Zero heaviness. Popeloff gives a lot of space to the keyboardists (there are at least two) and everyone gets their fair share of frenetic soloing in. Each one of these epic length tracks is packed with stylistic changes making it hard to classify. This one is a challenging listen but in a good way. Highly recommended and easily one of the more engaging progressive rock albums you will hear this year.
