Gazpacho - London (2CD)

SKU KScope 193
Double live disc recorded in London on their Missa Atropos tour.

"Gazpacho was formed in Oslo in 1996 by childhood friends Jon-Arne Vilbo and Thomas Andersen along with Jan-Henrik Ohme (later joined by Mikael Krømer, Robert R Johansen and Kristian Torp)" (http://www.kscopemusic.com/gazpacho/london/, 2011).

London is an excellent double disc live CD set pulled from Gazpacho's recent Missa Atropos Tour of 2011. The show was taped live at the Dingwalls venue in Camden, UK. The track list includes most all of the best songs from their discography of six albums.

What a pleasant surprise to receive even more music after this year's release of the band's latest album Missa Atropos. This new live set of discs opens with "Mass for Atropos I", as if to capture the power and excitement of the new music that has made its presence felt this year. I think the Missa Atropos tracks sound even more emotional in this live setting than they do on the original studio album which I purchased earlier this year.

My favorite album is still Tick Tock, which I reviewed back in 2009, and its tracks sound so amazing live. So Desert Flight, Winter is Never and The Walk Parts I & II are my favorite tracks here. But hearing Chequered Light Buildings from the Night album gives me a new reason to seek out that album as a future purchase.

That is one of the best reasons to put out a live album. To showcase some of your best material to your fans and attract new fans to your back catalog. This live album does both. It celebrates the current tracks and mixes them well with the epics of the past. Gazpacho has been on my "Watch List" ever since Tick Tock. I bought Missa Atropos without hearing a note based on the quality of Tick Tock. Now I will finally go back and search out the rest of the catalog, including the interestingly titled track, Sea of Tranquility, off the Bravo album. I have got to hear that one!

There is even more good news coming in 2012 as the band is busy recording their next studio album, another concept album, and they're promising it by March 2012." - Sea Of Tranquility

Heavier bass and drums than on the studio CD's make this music really kick. I think this is the best demonstration of their unique sound yet. Great recording.

Not a fan of a live audio CD but this is a stellar performance (excellent sound & well presented CD package). Highly recommendation! Sorin V.(ProgSor)
