Illusion Suite - Final Hour

Ok...let's get something out of the way immediately. Illusion Suite sound a lot like their Norwegian countrymen Circus Maximus. There is no denying it. Even their old demos sounded like Circus Maximus. That isn't really important. What the real key question is: Is it any good? Affirmative is the only answer. Originality Police be damned, Illusion Suite have come up with a fine slice of progressive power metal. Fine vocals, gorgeous symphonic keys, killer riffs and leads - its all hear. Yeah you've heard it before but these guys pull it off. Hopefully the band will develop their own identity on future releases. In the meantime, while we await CM's third disc this one feels good. Damn good! Highest recommendation.

Don't be fooled into thinking this band is another Circus Maximus. The vocals may sound like Circus, but the melodies here are flat and uneventful. There is also a lot of the prog elements missing here. Circus Maximus plays circles around these guys and I think it's a shame to put them in the same class. Just because a vocalist sounds the same doesn't mean the music sounds the same.. BIG difference here. Circus Maximus is a great band.. Illusion is a cheap basement band knock off at best.

Another Good pick for me (Im getting better) ,definatly ""Circus Max" clone, but this is done quit well. B.Ricci
