The Japanese scene for symphonic rock is a far cry from it's heyday 10-15 years ago. Kalo is a new band led by MasahiroUemura, who was previously involved in the bands Io and Fairy. The musical direction of Kalo is predominantly keyboard driven symphonic rock with a strong element of electronic music. It is primarily instrumental, although there are three vocal tracks sung in Japanese. Uemura tends to go for a lighter sound - at times this reminds me a bit of Kitaro.
