I've been kind of critical of Stratovarius for their past few albums and I think their former lead singer has now bettered them. This is a fine metal disc that out-Stratovarius' Stratovarius. He's put together a pretty nice little band here: Michael Romeo (Symphony X)and Juhani Malmberg (Tunnelvision) on guitars, Janne Wirman (Children Of Bodom) on keyboards, Mirka Rantanen (Tunnelvision) on drums, and former Strat bandmate Jari Kainulainen on bass.
Timo's first solo album was so-so and frankly I've never been a huge fan of his voice but for whatever reason it all gels on this one. Solid vocals, good chunky riffing and of course the killer guitar and keys solos. For a genre that frequently lapses into redundancy and cliches this one is a solid release. I enjoyed it...
