Been a few years since this Norwegian band released an album. Although female fronted, they really have nothing to do with the gothic scene. Madder Mortem is an interesting band that create a more aggressive style of metal but they incorporate a lot of progressive elements. A bit unorthodox - perhaps a bit like Atrox. Agnete Kirkevaag vocal stylings seem to have roots in jazz and Norwegian folk which offers a nice contrast to the wall of guitar squall. These guys (and girl) have never been a run of the mill band and perhaps thats been a bit of a problem. They don't seem to generate a tremendous buzz and the reason might be that their music doesn't fit neatly into a stereotype. Good stuff!
