Maeve of Connacht was an odd project. The band consists of members of the defunct Italian bands Black Jester and Asgard - now living in Germany. The band is fronted by Hubi Meisel. The music touches on progressive and power metal with touches of folk. Hubi sings in a near falsetto style - he sounds like Geddy Lee with his nutsack being pinched. The first time I heard this years ago (it was released in 2001) I thought it was a woman singing.
