First time on CD! Smoker of an electric set from this noted American sax player. Recorded in 1976 for MPS, Mariano put together a who's who lineup of fusion: Jan Hammer (keys), Zbigniew Seifert (violin), Jack Bruce (bass), John Marshall (drums), and Nippy Noya (percussion). Hammer recorded this right after his two albums with Jeff Beck and right from the opening track it sounds like he didn't even bother to load his gear into roadcases - he blasts off on Mini-Moog from the get go and the whole set is flying from there. Mariano plays both soprano and alto sax as well as flute trading blow by blow with Hammer and Siefert. Jack tosses is some bluesy bass licks along the way and you've got one intense album. This gets the deluxe treatment from Promising Music, a new label which will be releasing the MPS catalog. It arrives in a gatefold mini-LP sleeve, with detailed liner notes and photos and gorgeous 24 bit mastering. Highest recommendation.
