Second album from this California based progressive rock band. For their second go round the band has enlisted Yes hanger-on Billy Sherwood for production duties. Mr. Sherwood did a nice job here. The overall sound has a bit more polish than the first album but it isn't really any less "proggy". Vocal harmonies work really well here - I'm reminded quite a bit of early Ambrosia and Yes. Guitarist John Baker handles the vocals and he has a bit of an upper register Geddy Lee thing going on that works very well. Steve Mauk's keys have a bit of a Wakeman vibe - he changes up sounds and his solos feel right. I wish the organ had a bit more weight to it - sounds a bit digital in places. In essence this is a a band that pays homage to the classic progressive sound of the 70s and isn't embarassed to toss in some nods to AOR. I'm certain fans of their first disc will be blown away by this one. Highly recommended.
