30 years in the making...
About 12 years ago I spoke with Enrico Olivieri after hearing rumors of a long awaited follow up to Inferno. Enrico confirmed the rumors were true and that recording was under way. It was a planned sequel to Inferno and the middle release of a planned trilogy to be followed up with Purgatorio. Nothing further was heard from Enrico until a few years ago when the band reformed and performed Paradiso live. The reports were amazing but still no recording was forthcoming...until now.
Noted vocalist Jimmy Spitaleri is in the fold with Olivieri and he sounds just like he did 32 years ago - brilliant! This is a more refined version of Metamorfosi. It's extremely symphonic - focusing on synths and piano. I must admit that I miss Olivieri's pyrotechnic Hammond runs but the focus seems to be on creating a dynamic composition which I can't really say is a bad thing. With PFM, Banco,, and RDM reuniting and concentrating on either pop or recycled old material it's nice to see bands like Metamorfosi and Orme picking up right where they left off. A worthy successor to Inferno and highly recommended.
