Nemesea - Mana

In 2004 Nemesea came out of nowhere with their great debut Mana. This Dutch band is led by Manda Ophuis. She has a great voice...and isn't hard on the eyes either. The band developed a bit of a buzz touring with After Forever. Musically speaking they were very much cut from the same cloth. Nemesea was signed to a very small label that folded. At that point the supply of CDs dried up and Mana was impossible to find. The band reinvented itself as a pop/commercial rock band and now sound nothing at all like they did on the debut. So what the band left us with is an amazing disc that stands up to the best work of Epica and After Forever. Fortunately the album was just repressed by Hellion Records in Brazil so you won't have to pay exhorbitant prices to have a copy. If you are into female fronted gothic metal this is simply BUY OR DIE!

Excellent symphonic metal in the vein of Epica and Stream of Passion. In reality, these guys preceded those bands but were relatively unknown at the time. This reissue finally gives us progheads a chance to catch what we missed earlier this decade. Leyth
