OK with Wobbler safely ensconsed as my #1 symphonic album of 2005...here comes a candidate for #2.

Noekk is the new project of Schwandorf and Helm, the two men behind Empyrium. Where as Empyrium is gothic/death metal, Noekk is their tribute to 70s symphonic rock. It has a dark mystical feel that reminds me a bit of Anglagard although musically speaking it's not as dynamic. Moody Mellotron laced prog that sounds like it was recorded in 1973. Shockingly great.
