Golden Age is the latest effort from the Swiss progressive folk ensemble led by multi-instrumentalist Fredy Schnyder. This is very fragile music very much akin to White Willow's quieter moments. The instrumental features violin, piano, cello, percussion, and a variety of fretted instruments and keyboards that Schnyder handles. Female vocals are handled by Eluveitie's Anna Murphy and her male counterpart is Patrick Schaad. They work quite well together. There are moments when the album gets heavy - almost metallic but they are immediately offset by more serene acoustic interludes. Dark, introspective, and mystical stuff! Comes in a sexy oversized digipak.
