Here's a new band with the potential to blow up big...
Penny's Twisted Flavour is the the peculiar name for a new Dutch progressive five-piece. There is an obvious chops-from-hell Dream Theater influence that rears its head through out the disc but primarily in terms of instrumentation and not so much in the vocal department. At their core this is a prog rock band that is just as equally influenced by Spock's Beard and Yes. If you like your prog rock served up with a dash of heaviness and a dollop of shred you should check these guys out. This one rips! Highly recommended.

More in the lighter side of progmetal. Very good voice (like said a previous critic; a bit of Russel Allen here), pretty good musicians too. 2 ballads that are ok, 2 instrumentals that are excellent. Reminds me of Threshold, Enchant (1st cd), Myrath (when heavy), and bits of Dream Theater (the early DT). Good booklet (with lyrics)ŧo sum it: for those who like melodic progmetal that can be smooth and sometimes agressive (without growling ).

Hella bad-ass disc!!! Super chops from all players involved. Reminds me of a mix between Ayreon/Dream Theater/Yes. Vocally has a slight hint of Sir Russell Allen from Symphony X. More than likely a top 10 for my 2010 list. Tom H.-SLC
