Long awaited third album from this progressive ensemble based out of Pittsburgh. I had the pleasure of seeing the band perform twice over the years. The lineup has changed a bit but the core sound is the same due to the constant presence of guitarist and band founder, Rowen Poole. Persephone's Dream marries progressive rock with some aspects of metal although I would be hard pressed to categorize them as a progressive metal band (if that makes any sense). This new lineup features three vocalists - Colleen Gray and Heidi Engel splitting the bulk of the vocal duties, while the great D.C. Cooper contributes to two songs. The music draws from a variety of sources - symphonic rock, art rock, and even hard edge prog like Rush. It's all whipped together with a futuristic bent. It's a far stretch from their earlier work and frankly much more compelling and cohesive. Recommended.
