Another great high resolution surround mix from Steven Wilson.
For those that don't understand DVD-a vs. SACD, it's pretty simple. The original masters were digitally recorded at 24/48 using PCM audio. SACD uses DSD audio (1 bit / 2780khz) requiring transcoding from PCM to DSD. That makes no sense, so Steven wisely chose to stick with PCM audio and the DVDa platform. Also, Steve likes his visual presentations, something SACD would not provide. Also, DVDa allows playback in 5.1 for regular dvd users, though in a reduced quality provided by Dolby Digital. This, again, is something SACD does not provide.
Lastly, SACD's DSD format is really intended for capturing analog masters or for "direct to digital" recordings. For high res releases of existing digitally recorded material, the DVDa format is best used.
