All musicians around the world were affected by the music of Miles Davis and Argentina was no exception. In 1972, bassist Jorge Lopez Ruiz put together this quintet to record De Prepo. Heavily influenced by electric period Miles Davis as well as Weather Report, it also incorporates South American flavors. The music is filled with passages of Fender Rhodes. Ruiz is an accomplished bassist playing both electric and acoustic. The second track on the disc is "Mirosbass", a tribute to Miroslav Vitous, the original bassist for Weather Report. The album is filled with beautiful, languid soprano sax and flute passages. This is a jazz album - not a fusion album but if you are at all interested in the formative years of electric jazz you will find plenty of musical goodness to sink your teeth into here. Oh...this is out of print and stupidly cheap. Grab it while you can.
