Long awaited debut release from this French ensemble and it's a real stunner. How can a debut be long awaited? Like Wobbler, Setna made their demos available online and since then a buzz has grown. The album does not disappoint.

Setna are a large ensemble clearly from the zeuhl/Magma school. The sextet employs a number of guests including Magma/One Shot guitarist James McGaw. The music has a beautiful flow to it with simmering intensity. Instrumentation includes two keyboardists (Fender Rhodes and Mini-Moog), drums, bass, soprano sax, and wordless female vocals. This is one of those discs that are like a narcotic - it slowly draws you in and they you can't get out until it's over. The Magma influence is clearly felt but the band is not a clone. It's more like a contemporary approach to the zeuhl sound. Highest recommendation.
