After 29 years we have a new Starcastle album. Despite personal setbacks and numerous lineup changes Song Of Times sounds remarkably like Starcastle of old. Gary Strater, who was the bassist and founders of the band, passed away weeks after the album was completed. New vocalist is Al Lewis who you may know from his work with the band Alaska. His Jon Anderson-alike vocals fit in perfectly with the Starcastle sound. All of the original members appear on the album in one capacity or another. Thankfully the band targeted in replicating the sound of the first two albums as it's much more prog orientated than AOR (although there are plenty of AOR moments). This one should be warmly embraced by any fan of the band.
