New definitive remastered edition of the legendary Steel Mill's sole album, Green Eyed God, along with rare singles and unreleased pre-album acetate tracks.
Steel Mill's story was typical of the day: an early English band exploring progressive rock that meets with no acceptance on their home turf (think Nektar). While they did have singles released in the UK by Penny Farthing, it took the German Bellaphon label to release their full length album in 1972. The UK release didn't come until 1975, by which time the band was over and done. With proper management (ahh...the old story) the band could have become more popular. The combination of flute/sax and hard guitar leads bore similarity to early Jethro Tull and Van Der Graaf Generator mixed with some of the dark heaviness of Black Sabbath.
Label head honcho Lee Dorrian tracked down two members of the band so it comes with an extensive history of the band and unpublished photos. For some reason they have renamed the album and adorned it with new artwork (slipcased no less) by Arik Roper. Highly recommended.
