Swallow The Sun is a popular gothic/doom band from Finland (in fact this album has already hit #3 on the Finnish charts). The band uses a mix of clean and predominantly death vocals. From the vocal aspect I'm reminded of Katatonia and Opeth but the music moves with a slower doomier groove. Guest vocals by Jonas Renkse (Katatonia) and Tomi Joutsen (Amorphis) fit right into place. While the death vox aren't exactly my bag I was really impressed by their ability to create a mystical atmosphere while retaining a heavy as hell sound. Recommended with caution.

Yes caution. If you like music, the vocals will destroy it for you. Death and doom cannot mix, just like prog and death can't mix. You can tell by the myriad of confused people listening to this mess.
