New band featuring Russian vocalist/violinist Magdalena Lee (don't know her real name) who transplanted to Finland. ToM combine aspects of symphonic power metal with elements of gothic death metal as well as folk. Magdalena is classically trained and fits the Tarja mold precisely. Her gorgeous soprano voice is offset by the grunts of Vasstago - this reminds of After Forever's early works. Lee is also a proficient violinist and its used to good effect as both a lead instrument and providing accents that bring folk roots to the forefront. So think of a combination of Nightwish, After Forever, and Leaves Eyes.
There is some weird stuff going on with this band. Apparently it has fractured into two distinct bands each claiming the rights to the name Tears Of Magdalena. Poke around on the 'net - crazy goings on. None of this nonsense should put you off the release.
