Customer Reviews
Average Rating
Given the approach (metal band live with symphony orchestra and choir), the label (Nuclear Blast) and the release timing, comparisons to Epica's "The Classical Conspiracy" are quite literally unavoidable. Unfortunately for Therion, Epica's take on the classical/orchestral pieces is better arranged and much more musically developed. While Epica worked hard to stay true to the originals as full pieces of music, we find Therion generally banging out 3-minute abbreviations. When we get to the 2nd disc (Therion's own songs), things get much more interesting. Not that any of this stuff is bad. It just does not measure up to the same concept executed better by Epica. Leyth
