UOA2009
This is the most recent album from the Dutch psychedelic folk ensemble The Use Of Ashes. The band began as an outgrowth of the avantgarde Mekanik Kommando. Their first efforts were firmly in the psychedelic folk vein but gradually they developed a contemporary sound that was similar to Porcupine Tree. This album finds them returning to their roots if you will. The trio utilize analogue synths (pretty sure there is Mellotron in there as well), acoustic guitars, sitar, tabla, zither. The whole thing is rather dreamy sounding with the vocals sitting just right in the mix. Definitely a late night hookah kind of a thing that you could drift away to. Highly recommended.
