This trio has been heating up New York City for a few years now and it's time they were brought to the attention of prog fans everywhere. Believe it or not there isn't anyone in the band named Van Davis (not even a Van or a Davis). The lineup consists of Jake Ezra (guitar), Patrick Carmichael (drums), and Jon Price (bass). An obvious influence on the band would be Steve Morse's solo work but with a bit more of a jamband funk and groove feel. There is plenty of structure to the tunes but also lots of room for Ezra to solo. These guys seem to play with limitless energy (some of the tunes on the disc are recorded live - you can check it out for yourself). NYC seems to be developing a serious guitar trio scene - Alex Skolnick and Oz Noy immediately come to mind. Add Van Davis to the top of the list. Highly recommended. CLEARANCE PRICED
