New album from this Norwegian progressive metal band which is oddly a supergroup of sorts, accumulating members of various black metal bands. Vocalist Lars Si (Age Of Silence) has a delivery that is a bit of a dispassionate monotone which fits the technicality of th emusic. Guitarist Carl Tidemann (Arcturus) continues to impress - he's a non stop shred monster. Similar to his solo work, keyboardist Andy Winter focuses on piano. Hellhammer is back - living up to his name on drums. The inclusion of strings adds a beautiful texture to counteract the often frenetic playing. For this album the band is augmented by a variety of guests including Dan Swano and members of Madder Mortem, Ulver, and Borknagar. A smokin' disc!

Very good. Only thing I didn't like was the strange female vocals. Otherwise, you'd have to have no soul not to enjoy this.

Now this is pure symphonic prog metal at it's finest, their best cd to date. Awesome guitar playing and great all around songwriting, a must have.....Tom Argo
