"Unfortunately: it's all too seldom that an American rock band will come on to the scene, seemingly out of nowhere, to shake things up on some sort of musical level.

New melodic metal band put together by Megadeth bassist Dave Ellefson. More of an emphasis here on hooks and groove than any complexity. Pass.

Interesting trio from the Virginia/DC area. There is the occasional vocal but it's primarily instrumental music in a post rock meets prog rock vein.

Wow! This Swiss band sounds so much like Tool it's ridiculous. The material isn't bad but it sounds like they wrote it with tracing paper. If you are fan of Tool, Riverside, or any emo-metal band you might enjoy this.

First time on CD for this Italian rarity from 1972. Not as much prog moves as suggested. This is proto-prog - some swirling organ and mellotron bits - nothing too complex going on here. Vocals are split between English and Italian.

Modern aggro/metal band put together by Soilwork vocalist Bjorn Strid and former Blind Guardian (and current Savage Circus) drummer Thomas Stauch. This one is filled with mega-crunch, hooks, electronic blasts and a mix of clean and coarse vocals. It's a mix of Mnemic and Disturbed.

After a 3 1/2 year absence this long running German band led by Alex Krull have created a concept album based on Atlantis. The music has a real epic, symphonic feel but is extremely sinister sounding. The coarse vocals aren't really my bag but somehow it seems to fit the music well.

"ransmit is the second album from the Steve Lacy repertory band Ideal Bread. This quartet of expert improvisers is made up of four strong players, all considered notable up 'n' comers to watch on the modern jazz scene.

2nd of the Legend trilogy. The New Testament of course. Perhaps a bit too verbose with heavy theatrics

Second album from this Swedish band where were formerly known as Evergrace. Not sure why the name change. The band's specialty is melodic power metal with a dark twist. Kind of strange for what I think is a Xian band.
