This is the most enjoyable Devin Townsend album I've heard in years. Townsend definitely walks to the beat of a different drummer and is constantly confounding his listeners. Epicloud is no different. The album is actually catchy in a poppy way but still plenty of metal elements.

"When someone mentions Australia, normally the first thoughts that comes to mind include kangaroos and koala bears, Crocodile Dundee, the Outback, boomerangs and last but not least, ‘putting another shrimp on the barbie’. The regions rich tradition in the metal and hard rock genres, of course,

"Their name is strange, Teodor Tuff, but there music is strangely interesting, even compelling, on their second disc, Soliloquy. The larger musical species here is heavy metal, heavy rock at the very least, but with enough intrigue in composition to be progressive metal.

"While Ki was a rambling, spacious and highly melodic trip through a futuristic world of transcendental art rock and Addicted was a sparkling, sugar-drenched turbo-riff glitter bomb, the final two parts of Townsend’s latest masterwork take both him and his legion of listeners on a far less expec

Picking up from where "Terria" left off Devin Townsend carves out his own niche sound. Agressive riff oriented progmetal blended with Roger Waters/Pink Floyd and Tool is the best way I can describe this. This is a talented band and a wonderful disc. Easy recommendation...

"If I had to describe Devin Townsend’s music and sound with one word it would have to be – EPIC. The heavy parts explode at you from the speakers with bombastic aplomb. While the quiet and ambient moments create a sense of space and ambiance. Devin’s unique style is instantly recognizable.

I could never profess to be an expert on this multi-faceted musician. Clearly Townsend is a visionary artist that continues to chart new directions in metal - in the true progressive spirit. Terria is his latest album and it's a winner from the get go.
