New full length album from this talented Los Angeles band. Clandestine are fronted by June Park but the band eschews the typical gothic metal trappings. Mixed by Sylvia Massey, Clandestine blends modern/alt rock with progressive metal. Think Lacuna Coil melded with Dream Theater.

Excellent new progressive power metal band from Italy. Flashback Of Anger is led by vocalist Alessio Gori, who was Gamma Ray's touring keyboardist. It turns out he is just as good a singer as he is a keyboardist.

After all these years the Italians still do the Dream Theater style of progressive metal better than anyone. Third album from Daedalus is mixed by Roland Grapow who also contributes a guitar solo.

New progressive metal quartet led by Italian shred guitarist Francesco Fareri. He's supported by vocalist Titta Tani (DGM, Astra, Ashent) drummer Dario Ciccioni (Twinspirits, Empty Tremor), and bassist Emanuele Calvelli. Tani sings in a more aggressive style than I'm used to hearing.

Second album from this Swedish band where were formerly known as Evergrace. Not sure why the name change. The band's specialty is melodic power metal with a dark twist. Kind of strange for what I think is a Xian band.

2nd of the Legend trilogy. The New Testament of course. Perhaps a bit too verbose with heavy theatrics

Pirate are an Australian quartet from the Bird's Robe collective. They explore the heavier end of the progressive rock spectrum. Instrumentation is guitar, bass, drums, and sax with the occasional synth used for texture. Vocals are all clean and take a back seat.

Long delayed latest from this great Italian prog metal band is kind of strange. It's a 2cd release but only totals about 40 minutes of music - half of which are covers including Iron Maiden's Stranger In A Strange Land.

Eldritch return to their prog roots with this new conceptual work. The band was influenced by "In Inconvenient Truth", Al Gore's documentary about global warning. There are whispers of the thrash sound that permeated their music for the past few releases but its highly melodic stuff.

Excellent new Dutch prog metal supergroups of sorts. Sphere of Souls was put together by former Sun Caged vocalist Andre Vuurboom. For a time there was an excellent band called Autumn Equinox that never lasted long enough to record an album (but their demos killed).

Third album from this superb progressive cyber-metal band from Germany. Their second album "Mirror Of Creation" was released on a small independent German label and was always difficult to track down (or keep in stock). Although well received it didn't boost the band's popularity.

New EP features the band venturing into Aeon Spoke territory. Sean Malone is back on bass and his percolating bass lines add that fusion element that ties it all into the overall Cynic sound. Having said that don't expect the technicality of Focus.
